NEFL news. Read it!
Philly’s premiere electric football league will be celebrating their 10th year of existence with one heck of a match up. This was a very special season for many reasons. We (for this 1st time had all 32 teams) We (for the 1st time allowed custom figs) We (for the 1st time had coaches from the Md area) It all added up to one big family outing each time we got together. Special guest coaches came from Morgan (mozeek) Scott, and Joe “I make champions” Greco. Who also happens to be the best region rep in the whole NHFL!
In the AFC title game we had the heavily favored Titans, who went 15-1 thru the regular season. The only loss came by way of coin flip. (lomax was unable to make an scheduled game) vs. the Chargers (13-3) who are coached by Tom Johnson. That’s right, 2 coaches from the BEFL made the final 4. Now I won’t go into details on either game. I had to work on Saturday. When I walked in the rec, Tom and Lomax were putting away their teams. And the NFC game only had 5 minutes remaining. In these playoffs the Chargers haven’t been scored on, defeating the Bills 7-0, and then on the road beating the Ravens 13-0. Well………………………….. They kept the streak going! Shutting out the Titans 10-0. I will let Lomax, and hopefully TJ recap the game. I heard it was an excellent game played without incident. A few years ago Tom came out of nowhere to win the first NHFL championship, now he is at the door step of taking Philly’s most prized EF/MF possession south, back to Md. So we have Tom “the commish” Johnson and his SD Chargers representing the AFC in Super Bowl X. Who do they play???????? In the NFC we had the Falcons (13-3), coached by Brian Healey hosting the Cowboys (12-4) coached by Al Harvey. Most of you guys here probably don’t know Al, but he is one of the best coaches in this league! And greater than his ability to play MF, is his sportsmanship! A first class, class act. Healey on the other hand, is at just about all the big events. He has been on the Philly EF scene for many years, and this was by far his biggest game to date. Again, I will let Brian recap the game, cause I didn’t see much of it. The Boys have been road warriors thus far in these playoffs. Winning in NY, over the Giants. Then on to SF where they took down the heavily favored 49ers. The Falcons on the other hand, made quick work of the Bucs, then went on the road and played an instant classic vs. big Keith, and his Bears in Chi-town. This NFC title game was played in Atlanta, and it showed. The home team used the board speed to it’s advantage to pull out a very close 20-17 victory. The Boys had guys who ran at a blur on most fields, but could not get their footing in this game. So Brian Healey is one game away from a major victory. To win this title, this year would be very special. You couldn’t write a better script. For our 10th year, we have all 32 teams, playing out a full NFL schedule. A top coach from the BEFL vs. a top coach from Philly. One funny side note to all this. I brought the SB X trophy to the rec for the final 4 guys to see. Brian didn’t even want to see it!!!! Funny stuff, like that kicker (I forget who) that never look at the goal post when kicking! The Super Bowl will be played Sunday, June 1st. The game should start between 1pm-2pm. There will be a lot going on. If you want to come, and have stuff you would like to sell, bring it. We have plenty of room in the building. Dearell will be setting up shop for base tweaking. Coach Rip will have his new directional bases on hand. Big Keith will have his patented speed bases tweaked up and ready to go. There will be a big spread of food, and even more fellowship. So please email me yizcorey@aim.com and let me know that you can make it. I want to make sure we have enough food. Please go to the NEFL super bowl post for more info on this finale. Hope to see everyone there. I think Kevin Thrower, Wally Jabs, Ray F & Dale Polley might be there. John Wright is coming. I think Tony, from the Tidewater area is coming, do I hear that Don Smith will catch a ride with him??????????????? Do I hear Manta ray Dre will make it???????????? NATIONAL PS we need a field cover. Chargers vs. Falcons, with the NEFL logo, and it has to be here by Saturday.

Nefl...
Corey,
First let me say... that you are to be commended for the job you did this year. You stepped up (officially or not) and brought a level of excitement, passion, and fellowship to the NEFL this season. I also like the way you guys upgraded to current equipment specs. Corey you opened up your league to a "National" flava... don't let anyone rain on your parade, you did great! TJ and Brian- Congrats on making it to the Big Dance!!! I'm sure you'll both do a great job come game time. To all the other coaches who participated... This league took a big step forward this season. I hope you guys realize this, and I hope that you all have a greater season next year. Peace, OldSchool |

Three consecutive SHUTOUTS in the Playoffs??? WOW!!! Sounds like they need a nickname for that Defense!!! How 'bout The Swamp Things? Everything that crosses the LOS gets "swamped!"
This should be an epic battle!!! High powered Offense vs. an extremely stingy Defense. YOU GUYS GOTTA VIDEO THIS BABY FROM THREE ANGLES!!! The bar has been set by the guys out in L.A. (The SHOWs, Nissan Commercial, Hooters/Morning News spot and then again in Detroit (GLEFL) with Tony J's Skycam plus 2 other cams!!! Can't Be In 2 Places At The Same Time!
Sorry that I can't make it to Philly. Maybe next year. But I am working on the artwork for your fieldcover, CorEy. Anybody else I don't know if I could squeeze them in with today being a holiday, working tomorrow and flying out to LA Wednesday. It's gonna be tight, but I'll try. It starts with a phonecall to my guy at 0800hrs tomorrow. Then I'll have to send Mrs. JIMBO out while I'm at work. Keep your fingers crossed.

recap of AFC Championship
in a nutshell, the Titans were not ready for the defense that the chargers put on the field.
It was a slugfest for most of the game with both teams having shots, but defenses were making big tackles to save scores. This went on until the chargers stated to move the ball. With 12 minutes left in the game, the chargers moved into the red zone fo rthe first time of the game. They got a FG to take a 3-0 lead. The Chargers special teams was great all day as they kept the titans from any returns except for one. Having to drive 80 yds was tough all day, but with the game on the line it was even bigger. V.Young had guys open but could not connect. On 4th down, found L.White open for a 1st down, but the pass was off and the chargers took over. Next play, NEFL MVP L.Thomplison took a pitch out and made one cut and 32 yds later it was 10-0 and the air left the stadium and the House of Pain turned in on itself..... |
