Default Greatest O-Line

OK, we've talked about the greatest linebackers, quarterbacks, running backs, etc., but I've not seen anything on the greatest offensive lines in football. Was it the Browns of the mid 50's-60's that sprung Jim Brown loose? Was it the Packers of the 60's? The "Electric Company" of Buffalo who opened holes for the Juice? How about the Steelers line that protected Bradshaw and muscled their way down field? How about the Raiders of the mid 70's (my personal favorites) that was anchored by Upshaw, Shell, Dalby, etc.? The Cowboys of the 70's that were poetry in motion...and this was before the ball was snapped! The Bronco's smaller, faster zone blocking lines that made All Pros out of ordinary running backs.

What do you guys think?

Thumbs up O-Line.............

My Football wisdom is only legit from late 70's on My choice, the Cowboys of the Jimmy Johnson Era. I believe before the Aikman QB, thats, Troy Aikman, somehow ********ed off the O-Line that enabled him to hit Irvin, Ishmael, etc and stay healthy, unleashed a series of "missed blocks" rendering him concusion, after concusion, forcing his early retirement  But Emmit, Irvin, and Troy was a force to reckon with, they made history and almost broke the record for highest score in a Superbowl until my boy "Mr. Lett" decided he could tap dance into the endzone and a Buffalo Bill felt otherwise They would not have been a topic of discussion without a powerful, committed O-Line!!!!

Just my rookie report.

I would mention the Oilers when my "Uncle Earl" was doing his thing, the Bears with W.P(RIP) and McMahon at QB. The days of "Air Coreal"...hey Fouts could'nt pass a stone( ) if his line did'nt make it happen.

Default 70s OAKLAND RAIDERS

I think I got it this time...C - Jim Otto (HOF)/Dave Dalby (only 2 centers in Raider history up until the mid 80s), Left side - Art Shell (HOF), Gene Upshaw (HOF). Right side - John Vella, George Buehler. Mark Van egghen...who...exactly...ran for 1000 yds almost every year behind that line...not to mention what Stabler did behind that line. It's a shame that he is not in the HOF. I blame Al Davis for shipping him off to Houston. Undoubtly, Stabler would have QB'd Oakland to SB titles over Philly & Washington.

Default Greatest O-Line

The 60's Packers merit consideration:

T: Forrest Gregg (HOF), Bob Skronski
G: Jerry Kramer (NFL 50 Anniversary Team), Fuzzy Thurston
C: Jim Ringo (HOF)

Just ask Jethro Pugh!

Default the lions

How about the Detriot Lions with Barrders. How good are they when Barry rushed his way to the HOF and they did not block anyone for him. lol.

Oh yeah! How could I forget about them? I still say those 70's Raiders are #1.
