Default Miggle 2009 Convention rules are up

On the Miggle site, In The Huddle. It's broken down by section.

If you have questions about the rules and the wording, leave a reply.

Ed R, Joe G, and the rest of my "Rule Hounds", break it down.

I'm giving us an opportunity to clear up any misleading or omitted language that gets in the way of making a level playing field.

If you have more specific questions, e-mail me at nodave@mac.com

Look forward to seeing you guys there,

NO Dave

Why no first-run Proline bases allowed? Miggle made them, and they are the best base produced for electric football ever (at least until mine come out...LOL)?

Also, why no custom figures? I saw a bunch of guys come together with customized stuff at Canton and there was no problem. By placing limits, isn't Miggle just limiting their potential to attract a large crowd? If you are worried about someone coming in to play for the first time, they have no chance anyways, just have a serarate tourney for them with their own trophy.

Seems Miggle would want to attract as many people as possible. By allowing people to play with customized teams and their best bases more people would want to come. Plus, if they are worried about competitors, just allow Proline bases...no other base in the hobby can compete with them!

I have no stake in this...more than likely I won't play (haven't even attended in the last three years). I am just thinking this move would benefit the hobby and provide more positive media attention for electric football (the players would look good and the bases would run well) which in the long run helps Miggle.

Just my thoughts...
Mark

Default Great things in baby steps

Mark-

Understand. But it is still a marketing event for Miggle Toys, first and foremost.

The Gen 1 Prolines are no longer in the Miggle catalog, so they are not allowed. The latest Prolines are allowed.

The intent of the Miggle Tournament has always been that coaches need to have as equal a footing a possible in the Miggle Tournament, from the seasoned veteran to the guy off the street.

At one time, we were all "rookies".

It is up to all of us to make sure once we meet the new person there, and they get a taste of what the hobby can be, then we introduce them to the custom stuff, and what this hobby has become.

Besides, there is still the Green Room Rumble.

It's just like Miggle to make a base and then ban it from it's own tournament, it's almost comical.

Miggle is clueless about what the real MF hobbyist wants and needs. They have their business plan laid out and they don't put our wants and needs very high to be honest. I will support them the best I can but it gets harder to do so every year.

Mark, what about an ETA for these bases and can they be boiled?

I talked to you a while ago on the boiling tip, just curious on that, but more importantly an ETA.

Are you saying because I am an MFCA regional rep I should not speak my mind?

I am not following you.

I am an MFCA regional rep, not a Miggle rep.

Default I understand you, SJ

I am never one to shoot down anyone's opinion. This certainly is not the forum for that, and that was never my intention.

I was simply commenting that the language you used in a previous post seemed pretty emotional, and I seem to be misunderstanding the "Unity" thing. Maybe I'm out of line. If that's the case, my bad.

I'm just new to the MFCA, and just trying to offer clarifications to previous questions mentioned in this thread.
