paint stripping question

i put 22 players in a can of brake fluid at 8:00 last night, and i just checked on them and the paint is still on.is it supposed to come right off, or do i have to scrub it off? thanks ahead of time

In most cases, you are going to have to put in some elbow grease.

Honestly, and this is just my humble opinion, it's more economical to buy new figures rather than the time and effort and potential mess of stripping paint off other figures. I gave up that practice long ago and I paint hundreds of teams a year.

I recently put a team in brake fluid and maybe let them sit a little longer and you will see some chunks come off, them you get an old toothbrush and start scrubbing. In the end you may want to use a tooth pick to get some of the paint that is still on there. Also you may want to give them a bath in some water.

Put them in the dishwasher on pots and pans setting it gets most of the paint off.

i just took the players out after 48 hours and nothing came off. is it something to do with the excalibur players?

..... Right there with you, .............it only took me one time with brake fluid, ......... the economics are the time and elbow grease you put into it and the cost of materials, either brake fluid or easy off, you could have a bought perfectly clean brand new set of figures....

If you value your time, you will buy new, .............if you don't, ...........have at it, ...........and remember,............ when that certain someone is yelling at you about the mess, ............is all of that really worth it?

Well, I guess you can't buy fresh white players, excalibur only sells nfl teams.

Are the Excalibur figures painted or are the colours molded into the plastic? If the latter, it's not going to matter how long you soak them in brake fluid.

thats what im thinkin. if the color is moled in, then cant i just paint over them?

Sure. There are several paints on the market that will adhere to plastic no matter its base colour (Krylon), and other posters here have spoken of using Kilz n.2 acrylic glossy white as an alternative to the brake-fluid bath. Take two figures and experiment
