Preparing to Create the New Orleans Saints and New York Jets

In this hobby, I do many things. One of the things that I love to do is paint and create custom poses for my customers. For this one customer of mine, I guess he saw me create a team of New York Jets and he liked them (I think). For me, it will be time consuming but a labor of love.

It's great having all the materials available. Most people have to pay for players, decals, chinstraps, facemask, etc. For him, he just contracted my services and leave the details to me.

I will try to show you guys what I do when creating a team. If the coach has specifics, I definitely incorporate that into it but I like to use my own creativity as well.

I go out and get the roster, determine ethnicity of each player. Some players have different shades of colors and you begin by identifying that. Every player does not have the same skintone.

I get that information from either:

Athlon, NFL.COM, Sportingnews, espn, usatoday.

Once all that information is gathered, then the finding of figures take place. No need for the customer to have to wait on figures to arrive!

For this particular customer, he wanted the stock poses. And while the stock poses are great, I wanted to add a twist to his team. So I asked him if I could make him an even more versatile line (at no extra cost to him).

I had two lines that I felt could make an impression. One was the 3-pt downlineman O-line or the more versatile zone blocking/pass blocking line.
For the run O-Line, this was created for someone is is more of a ball control offense. Someone that I think would be even more dominate with that type of line is a Jim Davis-type. The players have a forward lean which basically causes momentum.

The other line is a zone blocking line in the mode of the Denver Broncos. When I originally started creating customs, I watched the Denver Broncos and froze-framed the players in a position. Thus, the line I came out with is the pass blocking line you often see me create.

I love this line because of the versatility. It is not only a strong line but it can do many things. Whereas the run line must be kept close together, you can space the zone blocking line out. I usually have my linemen a base length a part. Alot depends on the rules though. With the O-line that you see in the picture, the linemen have a much greater arm range than most linemen. Therefore, it allows the QB to have more time in the pocket.
