Help with Apoxie Sculpt
I did a search on this site for apoxie sculpt but only came up with where to buy. I want to know , How do you work with it? What do you use to apply it to a figure? Do you need to sand after it dries? ect.....

apoxie is a two part compound that requires a 50/50 mix. once mixed, it is a catalyzed product and you only have a certain amount of time to work with it. the time differs with the age of the product, newer batches tend to stay soft longer. with newer batches, i prefer to mix it and let it set for about 20 minutes before using, it tends to be sticky and gooey and almost unusable at first.
application is fairly easy. take off a small piece from the catalyzed batch, set it into place on the desired piece, and sculpt it with rubber tipped tools using a pushing and stretching method, keeping your tools wet at all times. water thins the product while it is soft, so that can be used to finish out the surface, making sanding unnecessary. however, once cured, it can be sanded if needed.

Chris,
Would a flat wet toothpick work as well? If no, then what tool would you recommend from that site? I just want to bulk up shoulder pads. |

i suppose that a toothpick would work, pretty much anything that you are comfortable with using would probably work. i suggested the rubber tipped tools because they are what work best for me at this scale.
the only way to find out if it is a good way to sculpt this material would be to try it.
