Default A Very Good Thing is Being Ruined...

Gentlemen, we are ruining the very thing we helped create. All the work and effort to advance this far with the hobby and the unification of coaches through this forum is being torn to shreds and is beginning to crumble from within.

We are all at fault to some extent, our love for this hobby causes the emotions to run high at times and it creates these problematic posts.
They then blow up and go off on some other tangent and now the problem is rolling and picking up steam in multiple directions before you know it.

I am guilty of this myself, I have helped keep ugly arguments going in the past, but I realize it was wrong to post at the time when I am so pumped up over something. I am a short tempered Dago and am very emotional about the things I love, this gets me in trouble a lot of times.

We have to stop arguing and get back to the basics or we will lose some prospective members, guests who see this are not going to want to pay to join a dysfunctional group of hobbyists.

The MFCA lost a lot of it's appeal to me after our heated MFCA Value Debate, now we are back to arguing about the same stuff we have done over and over again tenfold. I know if this having such a bad effect on an early member like me who thought this was the greatest thing I have found in 30 plus years of hobbies, imagine what outsiders and potential coaches are thinking, let alone the new guys who have just joined us and are pumped up about the hobby, asking some great questions, I have seen them on here lately, I bet they are not around for long though at this pace.

I had to say what was on my mind. Can we all focus on the hobby and it's advancement for a while?

I'm just a fat Italian guy on his soapbox who happens to love this hobby.

Why do people argue ? It is because they can't or will not understand. Coaches are driven by what they hear rather than what they actual know.
Example: I don't know you personaly, I can't go by someone's opion of you if the don't like you then what picture of you will they paint?

We can use this board to share ideas, we may want the same thing and do it a different way, you're way is better then mine so I will use it because it is better. That is where we need to be. But we don't do that.

If we love each other the way we say we do then we should be slow to take offence and quick to understand.

Shabby,

I understand what you are saying. My recommendation to you not to let some of these arguements get to you. There are X number of people out the in the community that thrive on creating issues. The good news is that they compose about 1% of the coaches out there, the other 99% are good people. Don't let the 1%ers effect you... "let the players play and enjoy the hobby".

Default Wise words

A very wise president-elect once said,

"We need to learn to disagree without being disagreeable"

I enjoy the exchange of ideas on this board and even on occasion the banter. I try not to begin any dialog with, "Jane, you ignorant..."

Unity in purpose is good..unity in tactics is boring.

In the future, before a post is made, just re-read it and ask if you're talking about a "topic" or a "person." That general rule I think will help all of us (me included) from stoking an unneeded fire.

Yeah....like the last 20 threads are full of my system/playing ability is better than yours stuff. Till these debates started again, the board had been pretty dead though. That said, I just don't have much interest in arguing all the time....or reading arguments. This is a hobby and I like it when it stays that way. I like posts about how to create a player, base, stadium, etc. I like discussions about game strategy. I like pics of everyone's teams and fields.

It is probably time to create a new section on the forum....where threads about why my system is better than yours get sent. Those that want to continue the debate....or who truly value what is being said....will then have a place to turn to. Those that don't want to deal with the drama can simply avoid that section. It requires the moderators to be active....and they have to be respected in their decisions.

I know this post might not be too well received by some, but the community as a whole is suffering and like Shabby said...it does hurt the hobby's image.

Thumbs up

While I too am not a fan of arguements and disputes, let's also see some of the value in some of these passionate folks. The fact there is passion amongst these people is to be celebrated. How many times have you had to deal with people who are not committed to what they're involved in? I have also been able to learn a lot about various syste,s and styles of play by reading some of this bantor. However,we do need to keep a sense of decorum about it though. It's ok to believe in what you believe and exchange in dialog and when disagreements arrive, let it be ok to disagree respectfully.

You guys are enjoying it, I did too at first, I also learned a lot and thought to myself these guys love their hobby.

To those that have been around this forum and the SCHMIGGLE forum, this is OLD HAT, I could hold this debate solo, I could type each sides response and go back and forth for hours all by myself, one man arguing both sides and it would pretty much look exactly like what you have been reading.

Seen it countless times.

Something must be wrong because it's always MPFL vs the rest of us. Why don't Strategy Divider guys battle with the Shootout crews, etc...We need to recognize that the MPFL is a different form of our beloved hobby and thank Anthony for creating yet another way to bring new coaches into this hobby. Believe it or not, I bet there are and have been new coaches and veterans who come aboard and study the different rules/styles and then gravitate towards MPFL style or a at least a modified version.

The more options and play styles the better, as that means more opportunity to recruit new coaches.

A victor will never be declared in this battle, all that will result is a lot of lost lives and further divide.
