I need help...

I'm creating Larry Fitzgerald. What's a good product to create his dread locks? I can't seem to find that perfect look that fits great on the figure and doesn't look rediculous? Any ideas?

Hey Mike,

Maybe you could sculpt them with Green Stuff? You could roll out small pieces of the stuff....glue them on to attach them and then add texture to them with an Exacto or sculpting tool. You get about a half hour of working time when you mix the blue and yellow components of the Green Stuff.

Also, how about taking apart some Sisal rope and using the individual fibers for the hair?

Get a small Black Paint brush. Cut off the bristles. Put Modge Podge(MP) around the neck, then with a tweezers, place the bristles into the MP.

You may want to check with ChetDakota. I did some Harris figures for him with the hair.

if you want stiffer dreads... you could use the bristles from a hair brush... you could find the color you want and don't have to repaint.

I have never made any but I would think that some of that really fine corded thread would work well cut and coated with dull coat. Check out a sewing place and hit the thread section.

Wolf thats what I used on my McKenzie figure, a rolled thread typically used in cross stiching. Put modge podge on the neck and simply glued the end of the thread on that way. Looks good and I've never had any problem with it coming off.

Here is an example of dreads I made using the thread that I previously described. I like it for the long hair, for shorter hair I might go with the sculpting clay to mold it into the figure before painting.
