![]() I am not so sure Stafford is worthy of the #1 pick. This draft is very weak at QB and next year isn't much better after the top 2 or 3 QB's are gone. I think the Lions should go with Curry.

![]() I think I need to clear some things up
![]() He made a lot of starts for a junior including 3 bowl games. More than many seniors. LB don't go 1, they just don't. And moving Curry to the middle, that's a big risk. Next years QB class is not good. Bradford and McCoy, system QB's. No pro offense for them. Tebow is not a QB in the NFL. He's not getting much more than Ryan did last season, that's normal - that's the way it works. Smith as an LT, played 1 year and is a converted TE. And Backus is the starter for the season. He's not going anyway. They do have big risk but the rewards can be huge. They needed to grab a QB sometime, 2nd round and lower there is even a bigger risk at QB. Anything else ![]() |

![]() The Lions need DEFENSE, DEFENSE, DEFENSE. If they pick QB they better get defense and another O-lineman in the next 5 rounds.
The turnaround in Atlanta with rookie QB Matt Ryan is probably the biggest factor on why Detroit feels the need to draft an "up and coming" QB. Very risky move. Having said that, it would be great for Detroit to have a nice young QB combo with C.Johnson. Detroit needs to take some risks, but if they really wanted to have a quick turnaround they would be best suited to build a strong defense first.

![]() Pop quiz. What 2 things do these QB's have in common??
1) Fran Tarkenton 2) Joe Montana 3) Dan Fouts 4) Bart Starr 5 Johnny Unitas . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Answer: 1) Thay are all in the NFL hall of Fame 2) None were selected in either the first or second rounds. Amazing but true. Fran, Joe and Dan were all taken in the 3rd rounds. Johnny U. was a 9th rounder. And even more incredible, Bart Starr wasn't taken until the 17th round!!! Just goes to show that you can't always tell a persons true ability or desires based on a workout.

![]() which is why I made the point, and I'm happy to see many have the same thoughts I do, ..........go lineman first, D and O, I think Culpepper will get through a year or two, .....take your time getting a QB....what good is having a great QB, when he can get ruined by not having a good/great line to do his work.............I hope they sit him this year, ............but, I could be wrong, he could come in a do a Ben Rothlesberger, .....................however I think the Steelers gave Ben much more to work with than the Lions have.

![]() When a team sucks as much as the Lions do, (don't even try to defend a 0 - 16 team, when you don't win any games, you SUCK!) you need help everywhere. Defense wins championships, not QB's. An offense is only as good as it's line is. Of the 23 modern day QB's in the NFL HOF, 10 were taken in later rounds, and 2 weren't taken in the regular draft at all. 11 were taken in the first round. So, I guess one could say that finding a great QB is sort of a crapshoot. Same as any other position. If it was my team, I would get the best linemen I could find and then fill in the holes elsewhere. If you have to take what's his name for the QB, find someone who will trade 2 good linemen for him. I sure wouldn't sign him for $78 mil. That's just crazy, but then again, it is Detroit.

![]() They need a lot of players. Think I would try to find if anyone was willing
to trade down and get players or draft picks or combination, especially this year when there weren't many(if any) premium players. Problem is that neither Detroit or Oakland(Davis) seem to know what they're doing. So, before concerns with personnel, they have to set in place a staff capable enough of sound decision making. The track record over the past 10 years pretty much says it all. |
